Step 7 - The Toning So this is where I fill in the areas that need shading. I use Painter Classic, so the watercolour tool is easy to use for this, since it goes right under the black areas without affecting them. So I can make totally haphazard selections like you see on the lefthand side of the page there, and just paint inside that area. I tend to start with Hassan's skin first, since it's a darker shade than what I usually use on other people's clothes, hair, etc. Of course, if you're using Painter too, remember not to save the file as a .jpg at this point, because you need the "paint" to be wet in order to add more shading properly. |
